Help Build the Future of Arts, Culture, and Community in Lawrence, Kansas

Great Plains Emerging Arts Project is a Lawrence-based nonprofit working to create meaningful connection through art, culture, and inspiring public places.

Your donation helps support two connected efforts: the 5th Annual Great Plains Art, Food & Maker Festival and our long-term campaign to help develop Sesquicentennial Point Park into a true civic gathering place with a future outdoor civic amphitheater.

For five years, the Great Plains Art, Food & Maker Festival has brought artists, makers, food vendors, musicians, families, and community members together at one of the most beautiful public spaces in Lawrence. What started as a local festival has grown into a larger vision: showing what Sesquicentennial Point Park can become for our whole community.

We believe Lawrence deserves a beautiful outdoor performance and festival space that can serve local artists, school events, graduations, community celebrations, nonprofit fundraisers, regional performances, and future festivals for generations to come.

That vision is now moving forward.

The proposed civic amphitheater at Sesquicentennial Point Park has been included in the City of Lawrence’s recommended Capital Improvement Plan process, with the next step focused on feasibility, planning, design, and building the public and private support needed to make the project possible.

This is not just about building a stage.

It is about creating a place where people can gather, celebrate, perform, remember, discover artists, support local businesses, and feel connected to something bigger than themselves.

Your donation helps us:

Produce the 5th Annual Great Plains Art, Food & Maker Festival

Support artists, makers, musicians, and creative small businesses

Build public awareness and community support for the amphitheater project

Continue planning, outreach, fundraising, and advocacy for Sesquicentennial Point Park

Create a stronger future for arts and culture in Lawrence

Every contribution helps move this work forward.

Whether you give $10, $25, $100, or more, you are helping build the foundation for a more vibrant, creative, and connected community.

Thank you for believing in the future of Lawrence, the power of the arts, and the possibility of a great civic gathering place at Sesquicentennial Point Park.
